Meet our Team
Whether it's sales, service, or repairs, we have the expertise to provide what you need.
Chuck has a long history of sailing, from the time he was a boy in Topeka, KS. He has sailed boats large and small, and he possesses the knowledge and passion to create a sailing resource that all sailors will appreciate. He has also established a not-for-profit, Adaptive Sailing Foundation, to give disabled people an opportunity to savor the wonderful experience of sailing. He purchased Kansas City Sailing very recently, and is excited to share more news about the New KC Sailing in the very near future!
Bruce and Cathy Liese
Bruce and Cathy Liese owned Kansas City Sailing for almost 15 years. As their lives changed, they scaled back their involvement in the shop. But then one day, a wonderful friend of the shop, Chuck Tantillo stopped by and asked about the future of the shop. After learning about Bruce and Cathy's plans, he offered to take over the business, in order to make it bigger and better than ever. Cathy and Bruce enthusiastically agreed to sell the shop to Chuck, knowing that he has the passion and commitment to sailing that will enable to make the shop better than ever. Cathy and Bruce can't wait for you to meet Chuck. We know you'll be in good hands with him.
In 2006, after years of teaching sailing, we understood that the Kansas City area needed a trusted place to purchase sailing supplies and get reliable service. So we opened a tiny shop in Lawrence that quickly grew. When we discovered that space was available in North Lawrence, we were ecstatic!
You can find us at our shop in North Lawrence or at Lake Perry, Kansas where we teach on keelboats and small sailboats.
Our shop is right of I-70, and it's easy to enter and exit our parking lot, even with boat in tow!
